Discover a Summer of Artistic and Scientific Exploration for Kids at Newark’s Premier Museum Camp
Camp NMOA, hosted by The Newark Museum of Art, offers a six-week summer program that blends art and science in a community-focused environment.
The camp is designed for children aged 3 to 11 and operates from 9 am to 3:45 pm, with pre-care and aftercare options available for working parents. The camp is structured around weekly themes that range from exploring the natural world and its patterns to fostering environmental consciousness and innovation.
Each week at Camp NMOA is a unique experience. Themes for the weeks include exploring the habitats of various animals, understanding the patterns in the natural world that inspire artists, learning about recycling and environmental care, following the footsteps of famous innovators, and embracing the joy of art creation. The final week is all about the sheer joy of making art, where kids are encouraged to embrace the messiness of the creative process.
The camp’s curriculum is rich and varied, offering activities like artmaking inspired by the museum’s galleries, science experiments, maker projects where children can learn different art techniques, and even planetarium visits to explore astronomy. Yoga sessions introduce children to the basics of this ancient practice, while Music & Movement activities keep them physically active and engaged. Fridays are designated as “Funday Fridays,” featuring games, team-building activities, and much more.
Camp NMOA is a nurturing environment where your children can develop a wide range of skills, from artistic expression to scientific inquiry, all while having a ton of fun.
